IAT-410 PROGRESS FROM OCTOBER 23-30

Well I completed about 20 of the 50 images this week. (They can be viewed at http://www.sfu.ca/~gurpb/IAT-410/) It actually took much longer than expected to create each image. The pictures had to all have the same consistent look and feel to them so it actually took me roughly 20 minutes to create each image/sprite. However, it all paid off today as I showed my team some of the my work I created this week and they loved it. It fits perfectly in the game as we tested it today. We implemented the art with the background and it’s a seamless connection. All I am missing is a little shadow beneath each element. We figured out the size, and each sprite will be shrunk down to roughly 50 x 60 pixels. And for tanks and bigger pieces it will be close to 60 x 74. The detail of the images look amazing on screen even though they are so small, users can still see the fine points. We scheduled a follow up meeting for this Thursday just to see where everyone is. I think it is great that we are staying on top of the ball from week to week and making sure no one is slipping. For next week, I will try to finish the rest of the art. It is going to be a very long week with little sleep. Having 2 other major projects due this week, I am committing the weekend to work on this. It is going to be a lot of work and a lot of minor details but making something that lots real good on screen will make it all worth it.
